Evaluation
In my initial skills assessment, i had only used a tripod to take pictures on timer, on my own personal camera. During this first induction i have learned to open Photoshop, and open an image onto Photoshop. I have also learned how add ‘layers’ onto Photoshop, to enhance my final print product. I am now able to add text, and change its font, size and embolden it. I can also move the text around and adjust it’s angle, so it can fit into the appropriate place on the image. Also, i can adjust the brightness, vibrancy and colour balance. This is good, as in my final print product i wanted the colours to be bold, and to stand out. However, i would like to learn how to cut out an image in order to place it on a new layer, so that certain things stand out. Also, i would like to learn how to add a shadow to my text, as it will add an edge to the image, making the title stand out. Moreover, i am pleased with my progress, as previously, i had never even heard of Photoshop, and therefore, all off my skills shown on my final print product have been developed from scratch. I would like to enhance my skills on adding new layers, and i would like to learn how to zoom on a camera.
Since doing my initial skills assessment, i have developed skills such as text control, gradient, layers and the cropping tool. I used these skills to create my final print product, which is bright and bold, with a clear heading. The work in my blog shows i can make a storyboard, using digital photographs and use a denotative description to explain what is going on in that particular shot. Also, it proves I can use Photoshop in a productive way. In order to improve my work, i could have used such developments as the 'retouching tool', 'feathering tool' and the 'resolution tool'; this would help me to move towards the standards achieved in professional working practise.
Before producing an advert (storyboard), the product, Jakemans cough sweets, was aimed at about 60-80year olds. Now, my product is aimed at 16-19 year olds, thanks to the teen models, fashionable costumes, and the context the product is starred in (a young man playing guitar). If i could re-do my photographs, i would have changed the setting of the second half of the shots, so that the model was in front of vibrant colours, which will accentuate the happy tone of the advert. The advert is very successful at aiming it's Primary Target Audience, as it suggests that the model used in the photo's receives more money after consuming the product. This will sell the product, as the product is framed to be the new craze.
